Update 3/16/20

Message from GKLL President Robert Pascale

Dear GKLL Family,

As per LL International, we are pushing back all LL activities until May 11th. In addition to that, we have decided to suspend all in-person registrations. We will continue to monitor this situation and follow all regulations Implemented by LL international, New York City and state as well as the federal government. We still plan on having a full season once it is safe to do so. We urge everyone to follow the CDC, NYC and Federal guidelines to help ensure we get through this pandemic as safe as possible. We will provide additional updates we get them.

Stay Safe,
Robert Pascale
GKLL President

UPDATED 3/12/20

Message from GKLL President Robert Pascale

Good evening everyone I was just on a conference call with Williamsport. Due to the coronavirus LL INTERNATIONAL has suspended all operations ‪until 4/6/2020‬. They have stressed not to violate this order. Parents, please comply with no practice, games, scrimmages until I receive word that ban has been lifted. It could be lifted earlier or kept in effect. I will keep everyone apprised when I know further. In addition, effective immediately our fields and indoor practice facility will be shut down in accordance with LL International.

Thank you
Robert Pascale

With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to contact you all directly to  tell you that the health and well being of our Great Kills Little League families it’s very important to all of us on the board. We are taking this situation very seriously and want to make sure that our families know we are monitoring the situation closely, and we are following the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the New York State And City departments of Health.
We encourage everyone to follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer); avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid close contact with people who are sick. We would also encourage you all to limit close, physical contact with others (including shaking hands).
Also, if you or your child are ill; have a fever, cough, or respiratory condition; have a compromised immune system; are in any other group that may be at an increased risk of contracting a virus like the coronavirus; or have recently traveled to a country listed on the CDC’s Risk Assessment by Country, we encourage you or your child to refrain from Little League-related activities until cleared by your healthcare provider.
In addition, we will be actively cleaning and sanitizing hard surfaces and shared equipment at the facility; tipping caps instead of shaking hands at the end of a game; making sure all players have their own water/drink bottles and are not sharing are some alternative ways that leagues can help follow best practices while this health concern remains.
As the situation continues to develop, Great Kills Little League will do our best to continue to keep our leagues, volunteers, and families informed.
Should you have any concerns or questions please don’t hesitate to contact either myself or anyone on the board.
Our first priority is our children and the health and safety of our families.
Robert Pascale
President GKLL
